Restaurant Mortens Kro (Morten’s Tavern) tempts you with fine, modern cuisine – served in a luxurious atmosphere of Scandinavian, lounge-style furniture, a fireplace, Champagne bar, Chef Table and soft upper class music from all around Europe.
The restaurant is Aalborg’s most reputable gastronomic establishments and during the 15 years of its existence, “Mortens Kro” has regularly been reviewed by a number of Danish and foreign newspapers and magazines, and today the restaurant is considered one of the better gastronomic establishment in Denmark.
The restaurant’s slight avantgarde interior is clearly inspired by some of Europe’s most modern restaurants. The furniture is designed by Swedish interior designer and scenographer Gunilla Allard. Restaurant Mortens Kro also has luxurious facilities for parties, meetings and special occasions, with seating for up to 120 people, with 80 persons in a single room.
In 1996, owner Morten Kok (among friends known as The Marquis) won the title as Chef of the Year, and he’s also known from his miscellaneous TV appearances as well as from his role of host of various TV programmes, such as “Røg i Køkkenet” (“Smoke in the Kitchen”) which was aired on National Danish Television, DR.
Morten Kok is furthermore author of various successfull books on gastronomy, and also the propetior of Friss Modern Steak House – a restaurant also situated in Aalborg.
Morten Kok offers his gastronomic excellence for lectures, food festivals, private dining and exclusive dinner parties.
