RESTAURANT AOC

THE CLASSIC MODERN RESTAURANT

————————————————

It’s not often you walk into a restaurant with two Michelin stars located in a mansion and find that it smells just like home. But walk through the doors of AOC and the smell of wood smoke and reduced bouillon of Jerusalem artichokes hits you like a double shot of aquavit. Result; an instant hunger-rousing welcome to anyone who loves good food.

AOC is serious stuff. Ancient arches and low lights and a 17th century cellar shape the dining room into the most elegant basement you’ve ever seen.  Home of Chef Søren Selin who creates artistic, curious and playful menus while always maintaining a high comfort and yumminess that keeps your palate safe.

Add to this Champion Sommelier Christian Aarø’s superior knowledge of wines that results in tantalising flights that often embraces both old, young, conservative, edgy, conventional and organic wines in great storytellings for your palate; servers that charmingly walk you through the minutiae of the menu as if they’ve spent a lifetime preparing the dishes themselves.

Meanwhile AOC is a grand restaurant that allow guests to unfold their personalities throughout the night rather than being mere spectators to a chef’s egotrip on plates. It’s a great place to throw a fun-loving dinner party and an experience you want to relive.

Søren Selin is a master of the senses. His tools are sourced from all that is offered by the local flora and fauna which he uses to create an incredibly stimulating experience of taste, colour, smell and texture.

His gastronomic philosophy is positioned from a modern style, using purely fresh Nordic produce. He states:

“My passion has always been to cook at the very highest level and at all times further develop my kitchen: A local cuisine that’s rooted in Danish ingredients and seasons, and a natural cuisine where the raw materials are the stars.

Selin has a culinary past at Le Relais Louis XIII (2 Star Michelin) and Jules Verne (1 Star Michelin), both situated in Paris, and at Alberto K in Copenhagen, – where he spent four years as the Executive Head Chef of the restaurant, including managing all food related matters of the iconic Hotel Royal.

Besides being rewarded with only top reviews for his gastronomy, he has been nominated in various categories for “The Danish Dish of Year” seven times, taking prizes home to AOC in 2013, 2014 and 2017.

Søren Selin was appointed Head Chef of AOC in March 2013 and has since received only top marks from all Danish and international food critics, taking Nordic Cuisine from punk to aristocracy.

In 2015, and again in 2016 and 2017, AOC was awarded with a second Michelin star, currently making the restaurant the only one in Copenhagen with this desirable accolade, only surpassed by Geranium that has received the third star.

AOC

AOC is situated in the vaulted cellar of the historic mansion, Moltkes Palæ, which dates back to the 17th century and is positioned just a few minutes from Kongens Nytorv in the centre of Copenhagen.

The main dining room seats 35 guests at round tables as well as a chef’s table. The can additionally provide two private dining rooms, which are ideal for smaller parties seeking an evening of refined dining in privacy.

AOC has two sister restaurants in Copenhagen:

no. 2 by the Copenhagen harbour front. A smashing hit of a Nordic bistro that serves the mother restaurant’s tasty culinary DNA, but in a vastly lighter and informal version that manages to please many instead of only the selected few.

TRIO – a three-floor restaurant with a great dining room, bold menu, sky bar, dazzling city view, swanky cocktails and knowledgeable staff, situated in the newly built Axel Towers in the center of town.

The AOC-group is amongst of the most successful high quality restaurant enterprises of Copenhagen. Founded by Champion Sommelier Christian Aarø and co-owned by award-winning Executive Chef Søren Selin.

“One of the absolute best restaurant experiences among the 400 I’ve had in Denmark.”  – Ole Troelsø, Børsen (Danish Financial Times).

AOC – CREATIVE DINING AT ITS BEST IN COPENHAGEN

“This gastronomic experience was artistic, curious and something I want to relive again and again. AOC is special, a place totally worth the expense and something most of us will never get to do. So if you have the opportunity, don’t debate, make a reservation and sit back and enjoy one of the best culinary moments you’ll ever have… Yes it really is that good.”

SØREN SELIN – ONE OF THE GREAT MASTERS OF THE NORDIC AGE

“Thankfully this was not simply a feast for the eyes. Delivered, introduced and devoured. Every dish induced a moment of awe and complete satisfaction, as binned juniper bush was cut open and toasted hazelnut rye bread left to melt the goats cheese which was thickly spread upon it.”

THE MOST INTERESTING FOOD EVER AT AOC

“The food is a revelation. It can be added to Copenhagen’s best, along with Hans Christian Andersen, its clean air, safety and all those egalitarian, polite folk on pushbikes.”

VERY GOOD FOOD: AOC MAKES ME HAPPY

“The dinner at AOC was a very emotional and uplifting experience. In fact, even the next morning I was still affected and felt almost in love. Walking from the metro station towards work I just couldn’t help myself smile. AOC had made me happy.”
