Steve Plotnicki‘s alternative to the Michelin Guide, Opinionated About Dining, polls extremely enthusiastic diners and those who devote a significant portion of their time and money to traveling the world in search of the very best meals on the planet. OAD provides these knowledgeable individuals a platform where they can impart their well informed judgement without the pressure of pleasing a publisher, therefore creating a dialogue between diners.

Plotnicki does not consider himself an omniscient food critic, nor does he see the logic in taking a small handful of experienced diners’ opinion as the last word. Instead, he has created the only survey-based guide which weighs opinions, therefore giving a non-bias viewpoint and mouthpiece to inform all the hungry diners out there, including himself.

Started in 2008 in the US, the list made its way to Europe in 2012 where it has since influenced diners all around the globe. The methodology of OAD assigns weight to each restaurant based on factors such as price and the diners it attracts, as well as the quantity and quality of restaurants a reviewer has visited.

Categories include: U.S. Top 100, European Top 100 and the Fresh List, which is an acronym for Farm-to-Table cuisine; Regional American cuisine; Ethnic cuisine; Sustainable ingredients; served with American-stlye Hospitality.
