GERANIUM ANNOUNCED AS THE BEST RESTAURANT OF THE NORDIC COUNTRIES

The Nordic Prize

BEST RESTAURANT OF THE NORDICS

———————————————–

Sunday night revealed the already acclaimed Restaurant Geranium in Copenhagen as the The Nordic Prize 2013-winner for “Best Restaurant of The Year.”

Already having obtained the award in Denmark from The Danish Dining Guide back in October, it is clear that Geranium is on the high road to success not only laden with culinary delights, but also a number of alluring stars of the Michelin kind.

All parties are most definitely in agreement when it comes to Geranium, as their list of achievements highlights so perfectly.

Besides being home of Bocuse d’Or Gold Legend Rasmus Kofoed, Restaurant Geranium received its second Michelin star within only two years in early 2013, as well as both years being recognised on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants List.

The other great talents, of which Geranium competed against, were: Ylajali (Oslo), Olo (Helsinki), Dill (Reykjavik), and Daniel Berlin (Tranås). In Denmark in October the competitors were Noma, Kadeau, Dragsholm Slot, Koks (Faroe Islands) and Mielcke & Hurtigkarl.

Geranium’s head chef and co-owner Rasmus Kofoed sheds some light on the secret to their success by stating:

“Instead of serving 25 servings where five of them are of average, it is important to us that every dish is great – otherwise there is no reason in serving it”, and continues, “To me this is another proof to the rather quickly build international reputation being in place, and in alliance with our everyday pursuit of perfection. I’m very proud of our team.”

The Nordic Prize is the most prestigious for Nordic restaurants. In recognition and respect of the Nordic gastronomy and cultural values, selected connoisseurs have teamed up to elect the best restaurant of the year in the North.
